The
2006 ASTA Tall Ships Challenge returns to the Great
Lakes for the first time since 2003. This will be the
third Tall Ships series to take place on the Lakes,
which were the site of 2001's inaugural Tall Ships
Challenge.
The
2006 series begins July 12 in the Lake Erie port of
Cleveland, Ohio. The sail boats and tall ships move
to Bay City, Michigan, on the coast of Lake Huron.
Next up is the port of Green Bay, Wisconsin. The ships
will dock in the Bay of Green Bay, just off Lake Michigan.
The final Tall Ships stop of 2006 is Chicago, Illinois
on the southwestern shore of Lake Michigan.
The
sailboats and tall ships will be spending a few days
in each port. While docked, visitors can tour the participating
ships and get a hands-on education in sailing the modern
tall ship. Merchandise will also be available at each
stop, including new Thad Koza Tall Ships photography
items.
